Greetings Class,
Again, thanks for the hard the work. The final leg of this race is your blogs. Stay sharp, this is finals week. You can do it!
The Blog Deadline is SATURDAY DEC. 13th MID-NIGHT. Absolutely no exceptions. As you know, this is an important aspect of your grade. I suggest writing about each project and sharing your insights as the artist/student. My hope is that you learned things from this course, some concrete and directly useful and some more about the creative process, problem solving, and the visual language. I also hope you learned a bit about art and the way it can be used to learn about the world and improve your daily experiences.
Strolling through Harris Teeters can be as amazing as strolling through Paris – if you set your mind to it.
I will be posting your grades the following morning. If you have questions please contact me.
Good Luck! You can see the finish line…

Photo Project with Candy
Art 140
Project: Photo Project with Candy
Description: Create 3 different photos of candy organized and composed in real space.
Time Line: Due on Monday, November 3rd.
1. All images must be on printed in color or posted to your blog. Adequate size for presentation is necessary.
The Rules:
1. No Chocolate
2. Only one type of candy can be used. For example, if you decide to us skittles, you can only use skittles.
3. The candy cannot be altered from its original form, except for the 3rd photo.
4. You are free to use as little or as much candy as you wish.
5. Only the actual candy is to be used. You cannot use the wrapper, box, paper, ect…
6. Consider each photograph a 2D design composition. Consider these 2D drawings in real space using candy instead of charcoal.
7. Consider your space/environment. Negative space is just as important as the positive space (your candy).
8. Consider Color.
9. Consider your lighting. Take a few pictures of each composition and select the best.
Good Luck…

WEDNESDAY… (CLEAN UP)
Greetings Class,
As you know, I will be absent for tomorrow. However, I am hoping you all can make good use of the time. A few things to consider…
1. Finish the Diebenkorn Drawings with your partner. This is an important collaboration. Your partner needs you.
2. YOU MUST CLEAN UP THE CHARCOAL VERY WELL AND PUT TABLES BACK PROPERLY. Otherwise, we may loose our privilege to use the classroom. Seriously, help me out with this.
3. Blogs are due Wed by Midnight. I will be in NY at an internet cafe checking the blogs. I cant think of any better way to spend my free time in such a great city…
4. Over the break, take 10 photos of Diebenkorn like spaces in Greensboro. Keep in mind the composition studies we did (credit card tracings…) and attempt to compose the shots well. These photos must be printed in Black and White for Class on Wed. OCT. 22nd.
5. Have fun and work hard.

Hey Gang,
I know the value project was a tough one – but i think you all did a great job with it. I was impressed with all the different subjects you decided to study. From roommates drying hair, eating grapes, police rage, counting stairs, playing music, etc… I think it was an eventful critique.
Ok, here are some related videos…

Hi Class,
Nice work today with your shape projects. Things were looking good and I am anxious to see what you do with this next step. Until then, here is a video that utilizes and responds to a series of shapes in amazing ways. If anybody can do this for us on Monday, let me know. We will ALL go outside and watch you perform.
Have a good weekend.
